Coming up on 3 June 2011, US-based death penalty lawyer Richard Bourke speaks on the intersection between politics and capital punishment.
Richard Bourke is a leading capital defence lawyer in the United States where he is Director of Louisiana Capital Assistance Center in New Orleans. Richard commenced his law career in Melbourne as a barrister and is a founding member of Reprieve Australia.
Richard works as a defence attorney for indigent people who find themselves charged with capital offences or already on death row and is a highly engaging speaker on the practical operation of the death penalty. Come along for a discussion on the politics and the law underlying this most severe of punishments.
